We are so grateful to the Nurses' Memorial Chapel Trust and Friends of the Chapel who have supported this tour not just financially, but also with advice and organisation and enthusiasm

We started talking to David Morrell, the former chair of the Trust about the project in 2015 when he put us in touch with a stitcher to work on the panel about Edith Popplewell. Kate Paterson took on the challenge and is also helping stitch the new panel (no 45) which is currently being worked on at the Museum.

When David asked if the tapestry could be in New Zealand for the re-opening of the Chapel, we jumped at the date and strung the entire tour around that date!

He sent us this email from his visit to the Tapestry at Canterbury Museum:

My wife Chris and I went in to see the tapestry today, and were absolutely delighted with it. It is in a very open room visible from one or two other halls so it is anything but tucked away. It all looks great. Andrew Crummy's artwork is wonderful stuff and it is well displayed in a very pleasant mid sized hall with good light and a good outlook into the Botanic Gardens. It is first day today, and there was an encouraging steady trickle of people coming through. A half page article in the free Christchurch Star paper helped.

We hope many people are able to see the tapestry and in particular the story of Edith Popplwell, the survivor of the sinking of the Marquette and read her story in the accompanying information or on the website.
